We are convinced Jesus’
message of hope and life
is the best news for
Botany and beyond.
About Us
St Matts is a church of ordinary people who meet together every Sunday to hear from the Bible about Jesus and the life he offers and how to enjoy this life to the full. We are a Bible based, Anglican church that is about seeing loads more disciples of Jesus in Botany and beyond.
Our heartbeat… what we get excited about…
Jesus said: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:19-20)
Our heartbeat is Jesus and we are on about making disciples of him. We get excited when people come to meet him for the first time and when followers of Jesus live for him and experience the joy.
Our History
St Matts has a long rich history. St Matts has been part of the Botany community for over 160 years. Our current building was built around 1860. A lot has changed in Botany in that time, but in many ways the life changing message of Jesus is still what St Matts is on about.
In 2011, a group of 35 adults and 20 children from Wild Street Anglican church in Maroubra, planted a church in Botany Public school committed to seeing a growing, vibrant church in Botany committed to the cause of Christ. In 2014, this group moved into the St Matts Building.
Our church has been part of the Botany community for well over 150 years … and we've been meeting in our present building since 1868. A lot has changed in Botany in that time … but in many ways the purpose of our church hasn’t.
It doesn't matter if you grew up in church, never been to church in your life or haven't been to church in years - we would love for you to come along and bring any questions you may have with you.
We believe that Jesus’ call to follow him is still the most crucial and life changing calling around, we make it our mission to to know and enjoy Jesus and share his life changing message with anyone who will hear it.
We meet every Sunday at 9:30am, 1331 Botany Road, Botany.
